We repeatedly hear a refrain in the Scriptures, "Do NOT be afraid." Now, this is not just in general don't be scared, for there are many things that do and should bring us great fear. But when you consider what is paired with it–the promise of God to be with his people–then the admonishment to not be afraid makes more sense. And this promise that God will be with you and will be with his people begins back in the very first book of the Bible.
